Grand Finals Thank You!

2 Sep by Tim Wolnizer

What a beautiful day at Mike Kenny Oval(s) yesterday. Ten grand finals and Kickability were hosted at The Kennel and the day went off without a hitch. Unfortunately, none of our six grand finalists were able to claim the ultimate prize but all teams fought hard and represented Westbrook and our Alliance clubs Pennant Hills and Hornsby in the best way possible. Their hard contest characterised by great sportsmanship/sportswomanship and recognition of their opponents and officials on the day. Congratulations to all those who were playing yesterday and we hope you are encourage by your performances and excited for another chance at glory in 2025.

To the AMAZING army of volunteers who made the day so easy for the coaches, players, spectators and AFL staff the BIGGEST BULLDOG THANK YOU EVER! I hope you all realise your contribution from the smallest to the largest is genuinely appreciated and recognised. The AFL staff were particularly complimentary of the smooth setup and operation of the day with a senior member of the team commented “we never have to worry about a thing when Westbrook hosts”. This is punctuated by the many. many, many positive comments throughout the day from parents, spectators, players and coaches who appreciated the ease of the day.
Please thank those who gave so much of their time when you next get a chance – from the 6am setup through to locking the gate and lights off at 7:30pm we can’t do it without your support!
I could write a paragraph on all the amazing people who helped yesterday but will leave for now and recognise more appropriately during our presentation day.

Thank you Kieran, Ishan, Michelle, Terry, Jason, Adrian, Katie, Stu, Matt, Dan B, Neil, Jackie, Kirsten anyone else that jumped in to help out that I may have inadvertently missed.
To all the “kids” from the youngest 6 to the older 17s who helped out with grounds, water, setup and pack up a massive thanks. You’re the future of the clubs and being willing to jump in and help is a credit to you and your parents.
A special thanks to Jarrod and Julie Loats for once again bringing Vittoria coffee to the grand final experience and Julie for jumping across to assist with the bbq for hours on end!
And, finally to the full day behemoths Mel, Dave, Kate, Meg, Kayla, Ari, Ruth, Mark, Ian, Oscar, Andrew, Steve and our PHAJFC friend Pete Parslow – you’re all marvels! Here’s hoping the feet, legs, backs and brains are recovering well on a Monday!

Nothing like showing the Sydney AFL community how to #bemorebulldog!

THANK YOU!
Tim and Dan (who is still 30,000 feet in the air en route to London).
